Appliance repair, one call to a local technician

Refrigerator, washer, dryer, dishwasher, oven, range or freezer acting up? One call connects you with an independent repair company that serves your ZIP code.

A local repair company answers, not this site. Have your ZIP code, the appliance, its brand and the model number from the label ready.

How the call works

  1. You call the number

A routing system works out your area, usually from your ZIP code, and looks for a participating company that covers it.

  2. A local company answers

It answers under its own name. Describe the problem and ask what the visit costs and whether it counts toward the repair.

  3. You agree the details with them

Appointment, diagnosis, written price and warranty are between you and that company. This site takes no part in the job.

What repairs usually cost

National ranges from Fixr's cost guides, parts and labor. Your price depends on the model, the part and local labor rates.

  • Dryer$100–$200belts, thermal fuses, elements and igniters sit in this range
  • Dishwasher$100–$300filters, hoses and inlet valves low; pumps, controls and motors high
  • Freezer$100–$400relays and thermostats at the bottom, compressors at the top
  • Oven or range$150–$400igniters, bake elements and sensors; control boards cost more
  • Washer$150–$400lid switches and pumps are common; drums and motors are the big bills
  • Refrigerator$350–$500fans, defrost parts and seals; sealed-system work runs past $800

Three things to check first

  • Recalls. Large recalls in recent years covered ranges, cooktops and washers from several brands. A recalled unit is fixed or replaced by the manufacturer, so check the model and serial number before paying for anything.
  • Warranty. A new appliance under its original warranty goes back to the manufacturer's own service first. After that, any qualified independent company can repair it.
  • Who owns it. If you rent, the washer, dryer or range usually belongs to the landlord, who should arrange the repair.

Something that cannot wait, like a fridge warming up with a week of groceries inside or a washer leaking across the floor? Read about same-day visits and what to do until someone arrives. If you smell gas, leave the house and call 911 from outside before anything else.

Brands

This site is not affiliated with any manufacturer. The brand pages collect what is specific to each: fault codes from its own manuals, recalls and who builds it.

Questions about the line

Who answers when I call?

An independent repair company that serves your ZIP code and is taking calls. This site only connects the call; the company quotes its own prices, schedules the visit and does the work.

Which appliances does this line cover?

Refrigerators, washers, dryers, dishwashers, ovens, ranges, cooktops and freezers, gas or electric, from the common brands. Microwaves and garbage disposals are not handled through this line.

Can I get a price over the phone?

Only a rough one. The company needs the model number and a diagnosis to price the part and labor. The cost pages here show national ranges so you can tell whether a written quote is in the usual range.

How is this site paid for?

Repair businesses pay the routing network for the phone calls that reach them, and that funds these pages. Your repair price is set by the company you talk to, and none of it comes back to this site.
