LG washer error codes and what LG says to try first

Notice the pattern. OE, IE, UE and CL are usually solved without a part. PE, tE and FE point at a sensor, a heater circuit or the water valve. LE and a repeating dE point at the motor circuit or the door lock. When an unplug-and-retry clears a code once and it returns, the retry has done its job: it showed the fault is real.
Why LG front-loaders fail differently
Most LG front-load washers drive the drum with a motor mounted directly on the back of the tub, with no belt in between. That removes belt and pulley repairs from the list, and it means a spin problem on these machines usually comes down to the door lock, the load, the motor's sensor and wiring, or the control. The LG range recall of February 2025
LG recalled about 500,000 slide-in and freestanding electric ranges with front-mounted knobs, sold from 2015 through January 2025, because the knobs could be turned on by accidental contact from people or pets. The recalled models include LDE4411ST, LDE4413ST, LDE4413BD, LSE4611ST, LSEL6337D and LSEL6331F; the model number is inside the oven door or in the bottom storage drawer. LG's remedy is a warning label and instructions for using the lock-out control function, rather than knob covers. Use the control lock whenever the range is not in use, especially with children or pets at home.
LG refrigerators: the compressor and its warranty
Many LG refrigerators use a linear or inverter compressor, and LG's US refrigerator warranty treats it separately from the rest of the fridge:

So an LG refrigerator not cooling at year seven with a failed compressor may still get the part at no charge, with you paying for labor. Ask the technician to confirm the compressor itself is the fault before that route is taken, since fans, defrost parts and dirty coils cause the same symptom.
LG refrigerators were also the subject of a class action, Bentley v. LG Electronics U.S.A., filed in New Jersey in 2019. The settlement, given final approval on December 18, 2020, covered certain LG-brand models produced from 2014 through 2017 that had a "No-Cooling Event", with cash payments on a claim form and up to $3,500 for property loss backed by proof. Its claim deadline has passed, and Kenmore refrigerators built by LG were not part of it; the Kenmore page covers their separate case.

Fixr places LG dishwashers with KitchenAid at the top of its dishwasher brand table, citing more complicated electronics. It adds that brands which are widely available and easier to service cost less to repair, and that LG dryer repair starts lower than Samsung's. LG washer repair has a narrow range, partly because so many faults are caught by the codes above.
Warranty first, independent repair after
During the original warranty, covered repairs go through LG's service network; start there with your serial number. After it ends, independent companies do the same repairs with the same parts. The FTC's guide to federal warranty law notes that tie-in conditions, making coverage depend on a brand's own parts or service, generally are not allowed.

Write down the code and when in the cycle it appeared, and read the model number from the label: on the recalled ranges it sits inside the oven door or in the storage drawer, and for a washer the owner's manual shows where the label sits on your model.
Questions people ask next
My LG washer shows LE. Is the motor dead?
Not necessarily. LG describes LE as the motor being overloaded and locked, and its first advice is to let the washer rest for 30 minutes to cool down. An overloaded drum, something jammed, or a heavy item spun alone can cause it. If LE returns on a normal load, the motor circuit needs testing.
What does dE2 mean on an LG washer?
LG says dE2 means the door is closed but not locking. Its first step is to unplug the washer for 10 seconds. If the code comes back, the door lock or its wiring is the usual repair.
Does the 2025 range recall mean LG will repair my range?
The remedy LG announced through the Consumer Product Safety Commission is a warning label with instructions for the control lock, not a hardware repair. If your range has a separate fault, such as an element or sensor, that is an ordinary repair.
