Frigidaire and Electrolux
Electrolux bought White Consolidated Industries in 1986, and with it the Frigidaire brand. In January 2019 Electrolux announced that it was consolidating all of its US cooking manufacturing, ranges and wall ovens, at its plant in Springfield, Tennessee, and ending production in Memphis. Kenmore owners should know that many Kenmore appliances were built by Frigidaire as well.

The 2026 gas range recall matters for anyone searching for help with a Frigidaire oven that lights late with a whoosh or a small puff. That symptom is a recall issue on the affected serial numbers, not routine Frigidaire oven repair or Frigidaire range repair. Outside those serials, a slow-lighting gas oven is usually the igniter described on the oven not heating page.
Frigidaire freezers

Warranty and independent repair
For a Frigidaire still under its original warranty, contact Frigidaire first with the serial number; the owner's manual lists what is covered and for how long. After that, independent companies repair Frigidaire appliances with the same parts, and federal warranty law does not allow a manufacturer to make coverage depend on using its own service.

Stop using the cooktop and turn off the range at the breaker. That is the hazard in the 2009 recall that Electrolux re-announced in May 2024 for certain Frigidaire and Kenmore Elite smooth-top ranges with rotary knobs on the rear panel. Check the model and serial number against the recall before arranging any repair.
Are Kenmore ranges and freezers made by Frigidaire?
Many were. Published lists of Sears manufacturer codes tie the Kenmore model prefixes 790, 970, 253 and 417 to Frigidaire and Electrolux, with 970 listed for ranges. The Kenmore page explains how to read the prefix.
Who fixes a Frigidaire gas laundry center dryer?
If it is one of the recalled FFLG4033QW or FFLG4033QT units, Electrolux handles the inspection and repair under the July 2023 recall, and the dryer should not be used until then. Other models are serviced by independent appliance companies.
